From a very young age, he developed a deep interest in photography. He began taking photographs with his own Hotshot camera. Between 1999 and 2002, he completed a Diploma in Photography from the Photography Association of Dum Dum under the guidance of the eminent photographer Benu Sen.
Over the years, he has photographed portraits of numerous distinguished personalities from the cultural world of West Bengal, most of them on black-and-white film. His subjects include poets, writers, singers, film directors, and actors. Among the notable personalities he has photographed are Subhash Mukhopadhyay, Shankha Ghosh, Binoy Majumdar, Sandhya Mukhopadhyay, Haridhan Mukhopadhyay, Mrinal Sen, Tapan Sinha, Manna Dey, and nearly 250 other eminent figures.
He has also undertaken documentary photography projects on the Nachni folk performers of Purulia, as well as on acclaimed filmmaker Tarun Majumdar and legendary theatre artist Chapal Bhaduri.
Professionally, he is associated with the Bengali Film Industry’s Still Photographers’ Guild. For the past 13 years, he has been documenting virtually every major Bengali theatre production. His archive includes photographs from more than 200 stage plays.
His photographs have been published in numerous newspapers and magazines and have also been featured on book covers.
